6/18…7:14 pm…Zone 10…Midland Road: BIS received a call regarding an alarm at a BIS member’s residence from ADT Alarm and Security. The alarm was a motion activated alarm reported to be in the home's living room. The BIS Officer arrived at 7:22 pm but noted that the alarm was not audible at that time. The BIS member was home and was contacted in the backyard of the residence by the Officer. The member was unaware that the alarm had been activated. The interior of the house was checked by the BIS Officer along with the homeowner. No signs of forced entry were observed and nothing appeared disturbed inside. The officer cleared the call at 7:34 pm.

 

6/19…10:12 pm…Zone 2…Fourth Street: Received a call from a BIS member regarding a suspicious vehicle that was possibly abandoned. BIS Officer arrived at 10:20 pm and observed an older model tan/brownish colored Ford van with no license plates legally parked but unoccupied. The BIS Officer observed camping gear, a bed and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The BIS Officer notified CSPD and was referred to the Colorado Springs Code Enforcement Division. The BIS Officer filed a report with CS Code Enforcement on-line and cleared the call at 10:40 pm. 

 

6/19…10:48 pm…Zone 2…Polo Drive: BIS Officer received two calls from BIS members regarding loud fireworks somewhere East of their residences. BIS Officer responded and arrived in the area at 10:52 pm. Officer checked the area of Polo Drive and Polo Pony Drive but no vehicles or individuals were observed in the area. The Officer also did not observe or hear fireworks in the area indicating the perpetrators had likely left the area. No other calls regarding fireworks were received. Officer cleared the area at 10:56 pm.

6/22…2:26 am…Zone 9…Napoli Way: BIS Officer received a call from ADT Security regarding a burglar alarm at a member's residence. The alarm source was reported to be a front room window. The BIS Officer arrived at 2:29 am. The Officer noted that the alarm was not audible, and no vehicles or individuals were observed by the Officer during his response or upon his arrival in the area. The BIS Officer was unable to enter the member's property due to locked gates. Nothing unusual was observed around the exterior of the property by the BIS Officer. The Officer attempted to contact the member/homeowner via the telephone but was only able to leave voice messages. The Officer cleared the call at 2:54 am but monitored the area the remainder of the night. No suspicious activity was observed, and no further alarm activations were reported to BIS anywhere in the area.

 

6/22…4 :52 am…Zone 4…Sycamore Street: BIS Officer received a call from a BIS member about a suspicious silver van with no license plates parked on the street. The BIS Officer arrived at 4:57 am and found a light tan Ford Econoline Conversion van with no plates legally parked and unattended on the street near the member's residence. The vehicle had maroon/red pin stripe designs on the sides below the windows. This same vehicle was reported to BIS on June 19th, parked on 4th Street. The vehicle was reported to CSPD Code Enforcement by BIS at that time. The BIS Officer again reported the vehicle to CSPD and was informed by the CSPD call taker that CSPD would not respond.  Additionally, the BIS Officer was informed that the vehicle must be observed in motion by a Police Officer before any enforcement could be taken. The BIS Officer cleared the call at 5:09 am. BIS will continue to report the suspicious, non-licensed vehicle to CSPD whenever it is observed in the area.
