Officer Reports 5/11/26 to 5/17/26

5/11 – 7:08 PM | Zone 8 – Mirada Road

The on-duty Officer received a call from a BIS member regarding a newer-model beige Ford pickup truck with unknown license plates parked facing the wrong direction on Mirada Road. The vehicle was occupied by what appeared to be four teenage males. The BIS Officer responded immediately and arrived at 7:14 PM; however, the vehicle had already left the area. The Officer checked the surrounding streets and conducted an additional search of the area where the truck was last seen but was unable to locate the vehicle. No property damage or suspicious activity was observed. The reporting member was contacted with an update, and the information was logged for future reference. The Officer cleared the call at 7:22 PM.


5/12 – 8:41 PM | Zone 5 – Springlake Circle

Upon returning to the BIS office from patrol at 9:05 PM, the on-duty Officer retrieved a voicemail recorded at 8:41 PM from a non-member reporting loud music coming from a nearby residence on Springridge Drive. The caller stated the music was loud enough to be heard inside the residence. The Officer returned the call and was unable to verify the caller as a BIS member. The caller confirmed the music was no longer being heard. The Officer advised the caller that BIS would not respond unless a BIS member reported the disturbance.


5/13 – 2:05 AM | Zone 1 – Heather Drive

The BIS Officer received a call from an alarm company regarding a burglary alarm activation associated with a sliding door at a member’s residence. The Officer immediately responded and arrived at 2:07 AM. Upon arrival, the Officer noted the alarm was not audible and observed no signs of attempted forced entry or other suspicious activity. The member/homeowner was contacted at the front door and advised the alarm had been accidentally activated when the door was opened before the alarm system was disarmed. All was secure, and the member was safe and not in distress. The Officer cleared the call at 2:09 AM.


5/13 – 8:11 PM | Zone 5 – Sequoyah Road

The on-duty Officer received a call from a BIS member reporting a loud motorbike being driven at a high rate of speed through the area. The member stated the motorbike was first observed on Lake Avenue and later again within the neighborhood. The reporting member attempted to obtain a photograph of the rider and motorcycle but was unable to do so due to the speed of travel. The rider was described only as a younger-appearing male. The Officer responded and arrived in the area at 8:22 PM. After conducting a search of the surrounding streets and speaking further with the reporting member, the Officer was unable to locate the motorbike or rider. No additional suspicious activity was observed. The information was documented and shared with BIS Officers for continued monitoring of the area. The Officer cleared the call at 8:38 PM.


5/14 – 7:49 PM | Zone 9 – Hermitage Drive

The on-duty Officer received a call from a BIS member reporting visible smoke and a possible fire near the Will Rogers Shrine. The BIS Officer immediately contacted the Broadmoor Fire Department, which advised that the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) was already en route and arriving on scene. CSFD quickly extinguished the fire, and no assistance from BIS was required. The cause of the fire was not reported. The reporting member was contacted, and a voicemail was left with an update regarding the incident.


5/15 – 8:01 AM | Zone 10 – Leaming Road

The BIS Officer received a call from an alarm company regarding a burglary alarm activation at a member’s residence. The Officer immediately responded and arrived at 8:08 AM. Upon arrival, the Officer observed workers performing renovation work at the residence and made contact with them regarding the alarm activation. The workers confirmed they had accidentally triggered the alarm. All was secure, and no signs of suspicious activity or foul play were observed. The Officer cleared the call at 8:10 AM.


5/15 – 11:14 AM | Zone 10 – Leaming Road

The BIS Officer received notification from an alarm company regarding a fire alarm activation at a member’s residence. The Officer was advised that the Broadmoor Fire Department had already been notified. The Officer responded and arrived at 11:27 AM, observing that the Fire Department was already on scene. Fire personnel determined the alarm was false and had been caused by drywall construction dust generated during renovation work. No assistance from BIS was required. The Officer cleared the call at 11:30 AM.


5/16 – 6:57 PM | Zone 5 – Springdowns Place

The on-duty BIS Officer received a call from a BIS member who was away from home regarding an alarm activation at the member’s residence. The alarm was associated with motion detected in an upstairs hallway. The Officer immediately responded and arrived at 7:05 PM. Upon arrival, the Officer noted the alarm was not audible and observed no suspicious persons or vehicles in the area. A complete perimeter check of the residence was conducted, and no signs of attempted forced entry, property damage, or other suspicious activity were observed. All doors and windows were secure and intact. The member was contacted and advised that the residence was secure. The activation appeared to be a false alarm caused by an unknown source. The Officer cleared the call at 7:15 PM.
