4/13 – 12:55 am | Zone 10 – Sanford Road

While patrolling the area conducting security checks, a BIS Officer found the front door of a vacationing member’s residence partially open. The Officer noted no alarm was sounding and no signs of forced entry were observed. Additionally, no suspicious vehicles or individuals were seen in the area. The Officer contacted the member by phone, and the member remotely deactivated the alarm system to allow an interior security check. The Officer checked the entire interior and noted nothing was disturbed, all other doors and windows were secure, and no evidence of theft or other criminal activity was observed. The Officer closed and secured the front door. The homeowner was contacted again and informed the residence was secure, and the alarm was reset. The Officer noted very high winds in the area at the time, which may have contributed to the door being blown open. Officer cleared the incident at 1:11 am.

4/16 – 6:40 pm | Zone 8 – Cheyenne Mountain Blvd

BIS received a call from ADT Alarm Company regarding an alarm activation in the main floor area of a member’s residence. The Officer arrived at 6:42 pm and was greeted by the homeowner at the front door. The member was unsure why the alarm had been triggered. The Officer conducted a complete exterior check and observed no signs of attempted entry, property damage, or other criminal activity. The Officer also checked the interior with the homeowner to ensure everything was secure and no danger existed. Nothing unusual or out of place was observed. All was secure. Officer cleared the call at 7:07 pm.

4/17 – 11:49 am | Zone 1 – Mesa Ave

The on-duty Officer received a call from a BIS member regarding a suspicious black and white school-type bus with no markings parked near the residence. The Officer arrived at 11:56 am and observed the vehicle with a CO temporary license plate, parked and unattended. The bus was legally parked and did not block any driveways. The Officer noted numerous vehicles and moving-type vans in the area, likely associated with the Space Symposium at the Broadmoor Convention Complex. The Officer documented the vehicle and informed the member of these observations, while continuing to monitor the area. The Officer cleared the call at 12:00 pm. Later that evening, the Officer confirmed the vehicle, and other related vehicles had left the area.

4/18 – Routine patrols completed – no reportable incidents.

4/19 – Routine patrols completed – no reportable incidents.

4/19 – 7:25 pm | Zone 10 – Penrose Blvd

A BIS Officer received a call from a member regarding a vehicle parked across the street that appeared possibly abandoned. The member reported the vehicle had been in the same location for over 36 hours. The Officer arrived at 7:30 pm and observed a newer model black Jeep Wrangler with valid CO plates (exp. 9/26), parked and unattended. The Officer noted nothing unusual inside the vehicle, the ignition was intact, and no damage was observed. There were no signs the vehicle was disabled, and no note was left by the owner or driver. Although parked in an unusual location, the vehicle was not blocking the roadway, and no parking restrictions were posted. Photos were taken and a full description was documented for sharing with all BIS Officers and CSPD. The vehicle was reported to code enforcement/CSPD via the GoCOS app. BIS will continue to monitor.
