3/11 — 8:47 am | Zone 1 — Strickler Road
BIS Officer received a call from a member regarding an attempted vehicle burglary that occurred sometime during the previous night. The member’s pickup truck door handle had been severely damaged; however, no additional damage or theft was observed. The Officer advised the member to notify CSPD and file a report. The member stated they would share any developments from the CSPD investigation with BIS. The information was logged for officer awareness and future reference. Extra patrols were established in the area for the next week.
3/12 — Routine patrols completed – no reportable incidents.
3/13 — 10:14 pm | Zone 8 — Marland Road
The on-duty BIS Officer received a call from a member reporting a group of individuals with flashlights running through Pourtales Park. The Officer arrived at 10:16 pm and observed several vehicles traveling northbound on Marland Road, appearing to be occupied by younger males of high-school age. No individuals or lights were observed in the park.
The Officer monitored the area and then proceeded north to Broadmoor Elementary School, where approximately 12–15 young males and 8–10 vehicles were located. The Officer contacted the group, who stated they were playing a game of “hide and seek” in the area. The Officer advised them to avoid the park and to drive cautiously within the neighborhood. The individuals were cooperative, appeared sober, and agreed to comply.
The Officer continued monitoring the area, notified the reporting member of the findings, and cleared the call at 10:30 pm. The group departed the area approximately 30 minutes later without incident.
3/14 — 4:07 pm | Zone 1 — Cheyenne Road
BIS Officer received a call from a non-member reporting a silver Chevy SUV observed driving through the area and opening several residential mailboxes. The Officer advised the caller to report the activity to CSPD or the U.S. Postal Service, as the BIS emergency phone line is reserved for BIS members. The vehicle information was logged for reference and officer awareness. No BIS members reported similar activity.
3/14 — 10:24 pm | Zone 1 — Mesa Avenue
BIS Officer received a call from an alarm company regarding an alarm activation at the west door of a member’s closed business. The Officer arrived at 10:26 pm. No suspicious persons or vehicles were observed and no audible alarm was sounding upon arrival. A perimeter check confirmed all doors and windows were secure, locked, and intact. No evidence of forced entry, damage, or disturbed property was observed.
The Officer noted strong wind gusts in the area that may have contributed to the alarm activation. The alarm system reset, and the Officer cleared the call at 10:40 pm. The area was monitored for the remainder of the shift with no further alarm activity.
3/15 — 2:59 am | Zone 9 — Marland Road South
While on patrol, a BIS Officer received a call from Advanced Alarm regarding a burglar alarm activation at a member’s residence. The member was away from the home. The Officer arrived at 3:03 am and observed no suspicious vehicles or persons in the area. No audible alarm was heard upon arrival.
A complete perimeter check of the residence revealed no signs of forced entry, property damage, or theft. All doors and windows were secure and intact. The Officer observed patio furniture on the southwest side of the residence that appeared to have been blown over due to high wind gusts earlier in the night.
The Officer advised the alarm company to notify the member that the residence was secure. The Officer cleared the call at 3:14 am.
