Mailbox Incident

At roughly 5:30am on Friday Nov 14th, a BIS member discovered a large amount of mail scattered near the intersection of Marland Road South and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Road. The mail appeared to belong to residents living on or near Woodside Lane, just east of Nevada Avenue/Highway 115. While a few pieces had been opened, the majority remained intact. The BIS member collected the mail—enough to fill two brown grocery bags—and delivered it to the post office for proper handling.

11/10 – 9:00 PM – Zone 7 – Broadmoor Ave

The on-duty BIS Officer received two calls from BIS members regarding a suspicious vehicle parked on the street. The vehicle, a blue Ford Focus with Colorado plates, was running with its lights off and occupied by an older white male.

One reporting member advised that they had approached the driver to check if he needed assistance and were told, “No help needed, just playing on my phone.”

The BIS Officer arrived at 9:15 PM, located the vehicle, and contacted the driver. Nothing appeared unusual, and it was determined that the driver, a white male in his mid-60s, lives in the area and had pulled over to play a game on his phone. After the contact, the driver left the area.

The Officer cleared the call at 9:30 PM and provided follow-up to both reporting members (speaking with one and leaving a voicemail for the other).

11/12 – 7:16 PM – Zone 10 – Leaming Road

The BIS Officer received a call from ADT Security regarding an exterior perimeter alarm at a member’s home. The Officer arrived at 7:22 PM and observed no vehicles or individuals in the area. The alarm was not audible.

A full exterior search of the residence was conducted; no signs of attempted entry, damage, or other criminal activity were found. The Officer contacted the homeowner at 7:45 PM, and both concluded the alarm was likely triggered by one of the homeowner’s dogs.

CSPD contacted the BIS Officer at 7:57 PM, requesting that the homeowner or alarm company contact CSPD. This information was relayed to the homeowner. The Officer cleared the call at 8:00 PM.

11/14 – 11:42 PM – Zone 5 – Sierra Vista Drive

While patrolling the area, a BIS Officer discovered an open garage door at a member’s residence. Contact was made with the homeowner, who reported that five packages had been stolen from the front porch around 8:00 AM that morning.

The member provided Ring doorbell footage showing a newer model four-door sedan pulling into the driveway. A heavy-set White or Hispanic male—wearing black knee-length shorts, a black zip-up hoodie, a black shirt, and a black ski mask/stocking cap—exited the front passenger seat, quickly collected the packages, and returned to the vehicle.

The video did not capture the driver or the vehicle’s license plate. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling east on Sierra Vista Drive. No additional reports of this vehicle or other package thefts were received. The video was shared with all BIS Officers for awareness.
