10/13 – 11:27 PM | Zone 3 – Seventh Street

BIS Officer received an alarm call from ADT Security for an interior motion detector activation at a member’s residence. The Officer arrived at 11:29 PM and did not observe any vehicles or individuals in the area. A complete exterior perimeter check of the residence was conducted, and the alarm was heard sounding from inside the home. There were no signs of attempted entry, damage, or suspicious activity. All doors and windows were secure and intact, and no interior lights were on. The Officer made contact with the homeowner, who confirmed it was a false alarm. BIS assisted the member with notifying the alarm company and resetting the system. Officer cleared the call at 11:59 PM.

10/16 – 8:48 AM | Zone 1 – Mayhurst Avenue

BIS received an alarm call from Brinks Security regarding a basement motion sensor activation at a member’s residence. The Officer arrived at 8:54 AM and observed no vehicles or individuals in the area. The alarm was not audible upon arrival. Attempts to contact the resident at the front door were unsuccessful. A full exterior perimeter check was conducted, revealing no signs of attempted entry, damage, or suspicious activity. All doors and windows were secure. Officer cleared the call at 8:59 AM. A follow-up with the member was completed later in the day.


10/16 – 11:55 AM | Zone 4 – Gardner Place

BIS Officer received a call regarding a motion sensor alarm at a member’s residence, triggered in an unknown location within the home. The Officer arrived at 12:03 PM and found the alarm was not audible. No vehicles or individuals were observed in the area. Attempts to contact the member were unsuccessful. A complete exterior check revealed no signs of attempted entry, damage, or suspicious activity. All doors and windows were secure. The Officer left a voicemail for the member regarding the alarm and cleared the call at 12:07 PM.


10/16 – 11:58 AM | Zone 7 – Briarwood Place

BIS received a call from a member regarding a door alarm activation while the member was away from home. The Officer arrived at 12:13 PM and, at the member’s request, conducted a complete interior and backyard check of the residence. No individuals were found, and no signs of forced entry or damage were observed. The Officer relayed findings to the member, confirming the property was secure. Officer cleared the call at 12:22 PM.


10/16 – 3:11 PM | Zone 4 – Cypress Lane & Sycamore Street

While on patrol, a BIS Officer received a call from a member regarding a highly agitated suspicious white male wearing khaki pants and no shirt. The subject was reportedly trespassing on properties, yelling profanities, and threatening violence. The Officer arrived at 3:24 PM and observed the described male on a member’s property, shouting and acting aggressively. The Officer noted that the individual appeared possibly impaired or experiencing mental distress. The Officer immediately called 911 while attempting to separate the individual from the resident. The male remained confrontational and continued making violent threats. Two CSPD units arrived at 3:28 PM, and the individual was taken into custody and transported from the area by AMR ambulance services. The Officer debriefed the members present and cleared the call at 4:00 PM.


10/17 – 4:45 AM | Zone 6 – Wedgewood Court

BIS received an alarm call from ADT Security regarding an activation from the lower-level laundry room of a member’s residence. The Officer arrived at 5:15 AM and made contact with two CSPD officers who had just arrived on scene. A complete exterior inspection revealed no signs of forced entry, property damage, or suspicious activity. All doors and windows were intact and secure. Officers cleared the call at 5:25 AM. The member was later contacted by ADT and informed that all was secure.


10/18 – 10:07 PM | Zone 3 – Elm Avenue

A BIS member reported a suspicious vehicle with its hazard lights on, stopped for several minutes at the stop sign on Elm Avenue facing west at Seventh Street. The Officer, who was nearby, arrived immediately and observed a newer model black SUV with Texas plates, filled with clothing and household items. As the Officer approached to offer assistance, the driver—an adult white male—drove away. The vehicle was last seen traveling east on Lake Avenue past Old Broadmoor Road. The Officer notified the reporting member at his residence and cleared the call at 10:19 PM.

BIS Day at the Range

BIS hosted its second Day at the Range event, where more than 20 members spent an enjoyable and educational day at the shooting range. Participants ranged from first-time shooters learning the fundamentals to experienced marksmen polishing their skills. The session was led by two highly experienced Colorado State Patrol range officers who provided hands-on instruction, safety guidance, and expert tips throughout the day. It was a great opportunity for members to connect, learn, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment. Look for this popular event to return around the same time next year!
