Routine patrols completed – no reportable incidents.

8/18 – 12:14 am | Zone 6 – Springmeadow Drive

BIS Officer received a call from a member regarding an individual dropping off heavy equipment on Springmeadow Drive. The Officer arrived at 12:28 am and located a semi-truck with a flatbed trailer. The Officer contacted an HM in his 30s wearing blue jeans, a black shirt, and a gray hat.

The driver had dropped off heavy equipment behind the entrance/guard shack of the Spring Grove gated community. Nothing suspicious or unusual was observed. The driver and Officer left the area at 12:35 am.

8/18 – 11:48 am | Zone 3 – Alsace Way

BIS Officer received a call from a member reporting that she could hear someone calling for help in the street. A second call was then received regarding an individual on the ground near Alsace Way and Brown Bear Lane. Several people had stopped to assist.

The Officer arrived at 11:52 am and contacted a young male who had been riding an e-bike and had apparently slid on loose gravel. The bike fell on his leg. The male was conscious and stated that he believed his leg might be broken.

An ambulance had already been called and arrived within several minutes. The male was transported by ambulance for medical treatment. The Officer cleared the call at 12:11 pm.

8/19 – 6:40 pm | Zone 1 – Cheyenne Blvd

BIS Officer received a call from a member regarding a homeless male sleeping on a neighbor’s porch. The residence was identified as a non-member property. The reporting member requested that the male be removed.

The Officer arrived at 7:02 pm and contacted the reporting member. The male was gone upon the Officer’s arrival. He was described as a WM, approximately 30–40 years old, with a dark beard and wearing a green jacket/shirt.

The Officer checked the surrounding area but did not locate anyone matching the description. No additional calls were received regarding the individual. The Officer cleared the call at 7:20 pm.

8/19 – 7:35 pm | Zone 10 – Penrose Blvd

BIS Officer received a call from a member regarding a van that appeared to be disabled and had reportedly been parked along the roadway for most of the week.

The Officer arrived and located a tan van with expired temporary tags (3/26). The hood was open, and vehicle parts were on the ground nearby. The Officer contacted a WM, approximately 50–60 years old, who stated that he had been traveling to Cañon City when the van broke down. He said he had been waiting for a friend to arrive and assist him, but the friend had not shown up.

Nothing suspicious was observed. The vehicle was not blocking traffic and was legally parked off the roadway. The male was advised that CSPD had also been notified regarding the vehicle. The Officer cleared the call at 7:45 pm.

8/20 – 10:15 pm | Zone 7 – Broadmoor Ave

BIS Officer received a call from a member reporting a residential alarm indicating a window glass break.

The Officer arrived at 10:20 pm. The alarm was not audible upon arrival. The Officer checked the exterior of the residence and found no signs of attempted or forced entry. All exterior doors and windows appeared secure.

The Officer attempted to contact the homeowner by telephone but received no answer. A voicemail was left advising the homeowner of the Officer’s findings. The Officer cleared the call at 10:38 pm.

8/21 – 10:25 am | Zone 10 – Penrose Blvd

BIS Officer received a call regarding the disabled van previously reported on Penrose Blvd earlier in the week. The reporting member stated that the vehicle had been reported to CSPD by both the member and neighbors but remained in the area.

El Pomar staff were contacted and requested that the vehicle owner be advised to move the van by sunset or CSPD would be contacted regarding trespassing.

The Officer arrived and knocked on the vehicle’s doors but received no response. The vehicle was locked and unoccupied. The area was checked periodically throughout the day. At approximately 5:00 pm, the Officer on duty reported that the van was no longer in the area.

Routine patrols completed – no reportable incidents.

8/23 – 2:05 am | Zone 3 – Bear Paw Lane

While patrolling the area, the BIS Officer observed a silver/black backpack lying in the front yard of a BIS member’s residence. Upon further investigation to determine where the backpack may have come from, the Officer noticed a lunch bag lying on the sidewalk nearby.

The Officer then observed a silver Lexus SUV parked near the member’s residence with its front passenger door and driver-side rear passenger door standing open. Based on the location of the backpack and lunch bag in relation to the vehicle, it appeared the items may have come from the Lexus, possibly after being removed or disturbed by an animal.

The Officer approached the vehicle and observed no apparent damage or obvious signs that the interior had been ransacked. Two cell phones were visible on the back seat, and a woman’s purse and billfold were visible on the front passenger seat.

In an effort to determine whether the items found on and near the member’s property belonged with the vehicle, the Officer contacted the nearby residents and learned that the Lexus belonged to a house guest. The homeowner came outside and secured the vehicle. It was unknown whether anything had been taken from the purse. The billfold was empty; however, it was also unknown whether it had contained anything prior to the incident.

The homeowner was advised to contact CSPD and file a report if it was determined that any property had been stolen. No suspicious individuals or vehicles were observed in the area at the time. The Officer also checked the immediate area and observed no other vehicles with open doors or apparent signs of entry. The Officer cleared the call at 2:22 am.
