Officer Notes 4/8/24 to 4/14/24

4/8…7:21am…Zone 7…Lake Ave between 6th and 7th streets: Received a call of a suspicious male walking west on Lake Ave yelling at cars. Described as a WM with facial hair wearing a hoodie and carrying bags. The BIS officer arrived at 7:27am and contacted the male west of 3rd street on Lake Ave. WM wearing a red plaid hoodie, black hat, medium height/thin build. When asked about yelling at cars he stated he was “talking to God.” Male asked for directions to downtown, he was given directions and was observed walking east on Lake Ave.  Cleared at 7:32 am.

 

4/8…8:07am…Zone 7…Hutton Lane: Received calls from members and the Colorado Springs School about the same male from the call at 7:21am. Male was on the athletic field yelling. BIS officer arrived at 8:11am.  Cheyenne Mtn School District security was on scene watching the male. The BIS officer contacted the male at 8:12am and escorted him off the property. Male given directions out of the area again to Lake Ave. Male was recontacted when he began to walk west on Lake Ave. Male was watched as he walked east on Lake Ave. At 9:00am he walked onto a member’s property/wooded area on Strickler Road. When he saw the BIS officer approaching him, he got back onto Lake Ave and was watched until he left the area. Cleared at 9:23am.

 

4/8…2:48pm…Zone 5…Sierra Vista Drive: Received a call about a solicitor going door to door selling solar panels. Described as a WM thin build wearing a purple beanie. The BIS officer arrived at 2:52pm and contact the male at 2:54pm. Male stated he was not selling anything but was “distributing information”. He continued to argue after being told not to enter BIS member’s property/trespassing stating he was allowed to enter anyone’s property because his list said so. Male was again advised of BIS member’s property/private property and trespassing. Officer remained in area until the male left.  Cleared at 3:01 pm.   Officer checked the area again at multiple intervals and the male was not seen.  

 

4/8…3:48pm…Zone 1…Cresta Road/Cheyenne Road: Received a call from a member of a suspicious male across the street from the bus stop who was described as a WM carrying bags. Officer arrived at 3:53pm and found the same male again from two calls earlier in the morning. Male had ripped open a bag of trash and was eating from the bag. Stated a woman from up the street gave it to him. He refused any assistance from the BIS Officer.  The officer then notified the CSPD Homeless Outreach Team and stayed in the area until he was called away due to another issue at 4:06pm.  Called member to provide information on situation.  Information passed onto the next shift officer who monitored the area and did not see the WM. 

 

4/8…4:06 pm…Zone 6…Broadmoor Hills Drive: Received an alarm call from ADT at a member’s house. Alarm from the garage door. The BIS officer arrived at 4:17pm, alarm was not audible, doors and windows secure and no sign of forced entry. Member called and voicemail left advising the house was secure.  Cleared at 4:26pm.

 

4/8…9:20 pm…Zone 7…Beech Ave: Member called stating the alarm was going off at his house. No location was given from where the alarm was activated. The BIS officer arrived at 9:27pm, alarm was not audible, all doors and windows secure and no sign of forced entry. No one was seen in the area. Member called back and informed everything was secure. Cleared at 9:39pm.

 

4/9…3:20 pm…Zone 8…Northgate Road: Theft of a trailer reported. Member sent an email about a contractor’s trailer stolen from the construction site. Occurred Sunday April 7th at about 6:45am, vehicle and suspect were seen on video. The vehicle appeared to be an older model Jeep Grand Cherokee with no plates and two off roading lights on the front bumper. The driver was a WM medium height, thin build wearing a black jacket, camo pants with multicolored stripes from the knees down and a bright orange beanie. Male gained access by removing a bolt from the cable across the driveway and swinging open a section of the construction fence. Police report filed by the contractor.

 

4/9…7:00pm…Zone 4…Gardner Place: Received a call from a member reporting that her neighbor had found a “homeless male with a really nice bike” setting up camp in her backyard. Neighbor told the male to leave, and the member followed the male towards Lake Ave. Male was last seen going east on Lake Ave. Member requested extra patrols in the area.

 

4/10…9:15am…Zone 4…Strickler Road/Lake Ave: Motorist assist, blue 4 door hatchback with CO plates on the side of the road with hazard lights on. The BIS officer contacted the driver who stated he hit a pothole and damaged the right front tire. He did not need any help. Cleared at 9:18am.

 

4/10…2:02pm…Zone 5…Sierra Vista Drive: BIS officer was flagged down by a member who lives on White Leaf Circle. Requested a ride to the house to let in workers who were locked out of the house. The BIS officer arrived at the house at 2:06pm, contacted the workers and let them into the house. Cleared at 2:10pm.

 

4/10…2:57pm…Zone 8…Marland Road South: Received an alarm call from Advanced Alarm Company.  Alarm coming from the front door. The BIS officer arrived at 3:01pm and observed an older model blue Chevy Trailblazer and a WM 60s wearing a blue shirt in the driveway. A WF was coming out the front door, both were contacted. Female stated she was the house sitter and had keys to the house. The member was called and verified she was the house sitter and okay to be there. Cleared at 3:05 pm.

 

4/10…3:14pm…Zone 9…Penrose Blvd/Old Stage Road: Received a call about a suspicious male at the intersection wearing a suit and taking photos of houses. The BIS officer arrived at 3:17pm and made contact with the male at the intersection. Male stated he was from out of the country and here for the space symposium. The male did have a photo ID badge for the symposium who stated he liked the trees and the architecture of the area. Member was called back and advised what the male was doing. Cleared at 3:24pm.

 

4/10…9:01pm…Zone 8…Pourtales Road: Member called about an intoxicated WM attempting to climb/jump over the fence onto their property. The BIS officer arrived at 9:12pm and checked around the exterior of the house and the backyard with no contact. No one seen in the area. Cleared at 9:26pm.

 

4/11…1:12pm…Zone 6…Broadmoor Valley Road: BIS officer found a wooden streetlight that appeared to have been hit by a vehicle. No vehicle or people in the area.  Damage reported to the city through the GO COS app. Light and debris moved out of the road. Cleared at 1:18pm.

 

4/12…4:00pm…Zone 2…Gentry Lane: Member called reporting a person had knocked loudly on the front door and left in a white pickup truck. Person was wearing a reflective vest, no other details or description given, no other calls received. Area checked with no contact.

 

4/13…12:08 am…Zone 6…Star Ranch Road: Contacted a homeless male sitting on a bench sleeping in front of a closed business. WM 30’s 5’8” medium build wearing blue jeans/black jacket wearing black and white glasses with black backpack. Male stated he sat down to polish some pennies and fell asleep. Male picked up his stack of pennies and other items and left the property with no problems.
