USGA 2025 US Senior Men's Open

Greetings All,

I attended the public meeting May 19th at Cheyenne Mountain High School regarding the upcoming U.S. Senior Open Golf Tournament at the Broadmoor, June 23–29, 2025.

Plans closely mirror the last Senior Open that was at the Broadmoor in 2018. The first two days (Mon–Tues, June 23 and 24) are closed to the public - no spectators. Wednesday, June 25, is Military Appreciation Day (free entry for active-duty military, half-price the rest of the week). Gates open at 6:30 AM daily; close at 9:00 PM except Sat–Sun, when they close at 4:00 PM.

Traffic and parking will be a major challenges, with over 100,000 spectators expected over the week. CSPD will have 16 officers on duty the first two days, and 80 from Wednesday through Sunday, focused on traffic control and security. The CSPD Motorcycle Team will also be deployed in the Broadmoor area.

Spectator parking will be at Broadmoor World Arena with frequent shuttles to the venue. Handicap parking is at St. Paul’s Church and School, and VIP parking at Penrose House. Expect significant parking in the surrounding neighborhood—within a 12-block radius. No-parking zones will be clearly marked, especially near the hotel. Some disruption to BIS office access is expected.

Road closures will occur June 25–29 (Wed–Sun), approximately 6 AM–8 PM, affecting Mirada Rd., Lake Ave in front of the hotel, and El Pomar Rd. (from Mesa Ave to Penrose Blvd.) and possibly some others as the event takes place and needs arise. Local residents will retain access to their homes, of course.

In case of major emergencies (e.g., wildfire), evacuation routes will include Cresta Rd., Cheyenne Rd., Lake Ave, and Marland Rd. South to Cheyenne Mountain Blvd.

For event-related questions or concerns, contact:

Hotline: 719-208-4107

Non-emergency during the event: 719-444-7000

Emergencies: 911

BIS will have two officers on duty from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM Wednesday through Friday and 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday and Sunday. BIS Officers will be strategically positioned within our patrol area to ensure a quick response to BIS member needs, security checks, alarm calls, and to carry out our routine paper, mail, and package pickup services.

We kindly ask that you avoid scheduling package deliveries during this week while you are away. With a large number of visitors expected for the event, there will be increased foot traffic throughout the neighborhood. As a result, any packages left on doorsteps are at a higher risk of being taken before an officer can retrieve them.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Chief Mark Trostel, BIS
