Officer Reports 8/24/26 to 8/30/26

8/24 – 10:45 am | Zone 5 – Loma Linda Drive

Received a call from a BIS member requesting assistance for a family member who had fallen in the backyard and was unable to get up. The BIS Officer arrived at 10:51 am and met the member at the front door. The member advised that the Broadmoor Fire Department had also been notified and was responding.

The Officer spoke with the family member who had fallen and observed that the individual was alert and stated they were not experiencing any pain. The Officer remained on scene and waited for Fire Department personnel to conduct a more comprehensive assessment. Broadmoor Fire arrived at 10:53 am and assisted the family member. The BIS Officer cleared the scene at 11:06 am.

8/25 – 3:43 pm | Zone 5 – El Encanto Drive

The BIS Officer received calls from a BIS member and Advanced Alarm Company regarding a smoke alarm activation in the basement of the member’s residence. The Officer arrived at 3:52 pm and observed that the Colorado Springs Fire Department was already on scene.

CSFD advised the BIS Officer that no smoke or fire was found inside the residence. The homeowner was contacted and advised that the Fire Department had determined the residence was secure and no fire was present. The Officer cleared the call at 4:08 pm.

8/28 – 8:10 pm | Zone 1 – Third Street

The on-duty BIS Officer received a text message from a member containing video footage of what appeared to be a juvenile male running across the member’s yard, ringing the doorbell, and then running away. The juvenile was wearing dark green pants, black-and-white tennis shoes, a black sweater or hoodie, and a black motorcycle helmet.

The Officer immediately responded and arrived in the area at 8:12 pm. The Officer searched numerous streets in the surrounding area but was unable to locate the juvenile. The member was advised that the individual appeared to have left the area. The Officer continued periodic patrols of the area throughout the remainder of the night but did not locate the juvenile. No additional calls regarding similar activity were received by BIS.

8/29 – 8:16 pm | Zone 5 – Old Broadmoor Road

The BIS Officer received a call regarding a vehicle with its hazard lights activated that appeared to be disabled on Old Broadmoor Road south of Broadmoor Avenue. The Officer arrived at 8:25 pm and located a silver Chevrolet Equinox with Colorado license plates and its hazard lights flashing. The vehicle was occupied by a female in her mid-20s.

The Officer contacted the female, who advised that the vehicle had run out of gas and that her boyfriend had left on foot approximately 30 minutes earlier to obtain fuel. At approximately 8:30 pm, a young male returned with a gallon of gas. Because the couple did not have a funnel or other means of transferring the fuel into the vehicle, the Officer went to the BIS office and retrieved a gas can with a spout to assist with the transfer.

The Officer remained on scene until the vehicle was started and the couple was able to leave the area. The reporting member was called back, and a voicemail was left advising of the incident’s resolution. The Officer cleared the call at 8:56 pm.

8/30 – 5:42 am | Zone 2 – Berthe Circle and Lake Avenue

The night-shift BIS Officer received a call from a member regarding a suspicious red vehicle with a male occupant parked in the bicycle lane on Lake Avenue near Berthe Circle. The reporting member observed the vehicle while out walking. Because it was dark and there were no streetlights in the immediate area, only a limited description of the male could be provided. He was described as possibly tall and wearing a hoodie. The male appeared to be speaking either to someone inside the vehicle or on a cell phone.

The reporting member subsequently heard what sounded like either a gunshot or fireworks, followed by the activation of a vehicle alarm. After continuing to walk, the member heard a vehicle alarm again a short time later.

The BIS Officer arrived at 5:54 am and located a red Subaru Forester with Colorado license plates that had expired in May 2026. The vehicle was parked along Lake Avenue in the bicycle lane. The Officer observed that the driver-side rear passenger window had been shattered, with broken glass on the ground and inside the vehicle. No one was observed in or around the vehicle. The Subaru did not appear to have any other recent damage or indications that it was mechanically disabled.

The Officer notified CSPD and was advised that a police officer would be dispatched when available. The BIS Officer then searched numerous streets in the surrounding area in an attempt to locate anyone who might have been associated with the vehicle. No suspicious individuals or other damaged vehicles were located.

The reporting member was advised of the Officer’s actions regarding the incident. The BIS Officer cleared the call at 6:33 am. The time of CSPD’s arrival is unknown. Another BIS Officer later reported that the vehicle had been removed from the location by 5:15 pm that day.
