7/20 – Routine Patrols Completed – No Reportable Incidents.
7/21 – 9:55 am | Zone 7 – Tanglewood Drive
Received a voicemail on the BIS office telephone from a member reporting a burglary at the residence. The burglary occurred either Monday evening or Tuesday morning while the member was away from home. The homeowner had already contacted Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), who responded and initiated an investigation. No suspect description or additional information was available at the time of the report. A BIS Officer responded and met briefly with the member. The BIS Chief will conduct follow-up with the member, and the CSPD investigation remains ongoing. A security alert was sent to the BIS membership.
7/22 – 5:23 pm | Zone 5 – Springlake Circle East
The on-duty BIS Officer received a call regarding a burglar alarm at a BIS member's residence. The Officer spoke with the member, who was away from home, by telephone and responded, arriving at 5:39 pm. A thorough exterior inspection of the residence was conducted. The Officer found no signs of attempted forced entry, property damage, or other suspicious activity. All doors and windows were intact and secure. Heavy rain and lightning were occurring at the time and may have contributed to the alarm activation. The member was contacted and advised that the residence was safe and secure. Officer cleared the call at 5:51 pm.
7/23 – 6:21 pm | Zone 4 – Cypress Lane
Received a call from a BIS member regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in the cul-de-sac near the member's residence. The vehicle, described as a red Nissan, was unfamiliar to the member and was reported to be parked with its engine running. No additional description was available. While the Officer was en route, the member called back to report that the vehicle had left the area. The Officer continued to the location but was unable to locate the vehicle. Officer cleared the call at 6:24 pm.

7/26 – 5:32 pm | Zone 10 – Penrose Boulevard and Chase Lane
A BIS Officer received a call from a member regarding two individuals near the member's residence who appeared to need assistance. The individuals were described as a Hispanic female with pink hair in a wheelchair and a younger Hispanic male accompanied by a dog on a leash. The Officer arrived at 5:40 pm and contacted the female at the intersection of Old Stage Road and Penrose Boulevard. The younger male and the dog were no longer with her. The female advised that her wheelchair battery had lost power and that the younger male had returned to their residence to retrieve a replacement battery. The Officer obtained a home telephone number from the female and contacted family members, who confirmed that she was their grandmother. The Officer then transported the grandmother safely to her nearby residence. Officer cleared the call at 5:55 pm.
