Officer Reports 6/22/26 to 6/28/26

6/22 – 6:15 pm | Zone 5 – Loma Linda Drive

While returning mail and packages to a BIS member, the BIS Officer was informed about loud minibikes racing up and down Sierra Vista Drive on occasion. No description of the minibikes or riders could be provided. BIS has received several similar calls in recent weeks regarding motorcycles, dirt bikes, and minibikes operating recklessly throughout the BIS patrol area. Officers continue to watch for and attempt to contact any careless or reckless drivers. CSPD has also been notified of these dangerous driving complaints. Extra patrols are being conducted in the area.

6/22 – 8:18 pm | Zone 8 – Pourtales Road

A BIS Officer received a call from a member reporting a black Mazda SUV parked on the street with its engine running near the member's residence. The vehicle was unfamiliar to the neighborhood and not known to the member. The Officer arrived at 8:30 pm and located the black Mazda SUV with Colorado license plates parked legally on the street. The engine was no longer running, and the vehicle was unoccupied. Upon closer inspection, nothing suspicious or unusual was observed inside the vehicle. The vehicle information was documented for future reference. While following up with the reporting member, it was learned the vehicle might belong to a neighbor's son or one of his friends. The member had contacted the neighbor and was awaiting confirmation. The Officer cleared the call at 8:42 pm but continued to monitor the vehicle throughout the remainder of the shift. No further suspicious activity was observed.

6/23 – 10:08 am | Zone 1 – Mesa Avenue

A manager for a BIS member's commercial property reported to the BIS Chief that at approximately 10:08 am, surveillance cameras captured a dark blue or black 2013–2016 Chevrolet Malibu sedan with dark tinted windows and no visible license plates driving through the parking lot. The vehicle, occupied by a possible female driver and male passenger, stopped before one of the occupants broke a window of a privately owned vehicle parked on the property. It was unknown if any property was stolen. The vehicle owner filed a report with CSPD regarding the break-in. The manager shared the surveillance video with BIS. The information was relayed to the on-duty BIS Officer, documented for future reference, and shared with all BIS Officers and members. Extra patrols of the parking area were conducted over the following several days. The suspect vehicle was not observed again.

6/23 – 10:43 am | Zone 1 – Third Street

A BIS member, who had been away from home, contacted BIS at approximately 10:22 pm and later sent an email reporting that three packages had been stolen from the front porch earlier that day at approximately 10:43 am. After returning home and reviewing security camera footage, the member observed a four-door sedan pull up in front of the residence just minutes after a delivery driver left the packages. A White female in her mid-20s to 30s, medium build, with shoulder-length light brown hair, wearing a black hoodie, red-and-white striped pants, and white tennis shoes exited the driver's side of the vehicle, ran to the porch, and stole the packages. At the same time, a White or Hispanic male exited the front passenger seat, removed mail from the member's mailbox, and returned to the vehicle. The vehicle then left the area.

The vehicle was described as a dark-colored four-door sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, with dark tinted windows and no visible license plates. The description closely matched a vehicle involved in another incident earlier that same morning (see above). The member was advised to file a theft report with CSPD and was provided the necessary reporting information. The incident was documented for future reference and shared with all BIS Officers. Extra patrols were conducted in the area over the following several days, and a Community Alert was distributed to all BIS members regarding both incidents.

6/23 – 12:53 pm | Zone 6 – Clubridge Place

The on-duty BIS Officer received a call from a member who reported that upon returning home, the home's alarm system was not functioning normally, causing concern that someone may have entered the residence. The Officer arrived at 12:58 pm and conducted an interior check of the residence with the member. Nothing appeared disturbed, and no signs of forced entry, theft, or property damage were observed. The home's alarm panel indicated a possible power interruption, which may have caused the malfunction. The Officer cleared the call at 1:10 pm.

6/24 – 11:17 pm | Zone 1 – Third Street

While patrolling the area, a BIS Officer observed an open garage door at a member's residence. Due to the late hour and the Officer's familiarity with the property, the open garage appeared unusual. No suspicious individuals or vehicles were observed, and nothing inside the garage appeared disturbed. The Officer contacted the member at the front door, and the garage door was secured. The Officer cleared the call at 11:20 pm.

6/25 – Routine patrols completed – no reportable incidents.

6/26 – 3:59 am | Zone 6 – Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard

While patrolling the area, a BIS Officer observed a newer model white Chevrolet Silverado with Colorado license plates occupied by a White or Hispanic male in his 30s or early 40s with brown hair, wearing blue jeans and a light-colored shirt. The male appeared to be sleeping or unconscious in the driver's seat. The Officer attempted numerous times to wake the driver by knocking on the windshield and driver's window in an effort to conduct a welfare check and determine whether medical assistance was needed. Unable to awaken the driver, the Officer notified CSPD at 4:09 am. Before officers arrived, the male awoke but appeared incoherent and was unable to communicate clearly. CSPD arrived at 4:35 am, and the individual was turned over to them for further investigation. The BIS Officer cleared the incident at 4:40 am while CSPD remained on scene. BIS later learned the male had been arrested for DUI due to extreme intoxication.

6/26 – 1:20 pm | Zone 3 – Elm Avenue

A BIS Officer received a call from a member reporting a possible homeless male described as a White male with white or blond hair carrying either a blue bag or blue sleeping bag. The caller further reported the male had exposed himself near Elm Avenue and Seventh Street. The Officer immediately responded and arrived at 1:26 pm but did not locate the individual at the reported location. Numerous nearby streets were checked without success. No additional reports regarding the individual were received. The Officer cleared the call at 1:30 pm but continued to monitor the area throughout the remainder of the shift. The individual's description was documented and shared with other BIS Officers.

6/27 – 8:47 pm | Zone 2 – Fourth Street

While patrolling the area, a BIS Officer observed a small black SUV parked along the roadway with its hazard lights activated. The vehicle's hood was open, and a gallon container, believed to contain water, was sitting next to the vehicle. A female in her 30s and two young children were standing outside the vehicle. The Officer stopped to offer assistance. The female advised that assistance was not needed and explained the vehicle had overheated and she was waiting for the engine to cool before adding water. Nothing unusual was observed, and the children appeared calm and in good spirits. The Officer rechecked the area at 9:32 pm and found the vehicle had departed.

6/27 – 9:09 pm | Zone 2 – Polo Pony Drive

While patrolling the area, a BIS Officer observed an open garage door at a member's residence. The Officer contacted the member at the front door and learned the member had been working outside in the yard. The garage door was secured, and the Officer cleared the call at 9:15 pm.

6/28 – 3:03 am | Zone 4 – Haney Road

While patrolling the area, a BIS Officer discovered a large amount of debris scattered across Haney Road from the intersection of Woodburn Street to Strickler Road. The debris included tree branches, fencing material, wooden slats, numerous tires, and tire rims. No vehicles or individuals associated with the debris were observed. The Officer contacted CSPD, who advised they had already received a report and had dispatched an officer. A CSPD Officer arrived at 3:17 am, and with assistance from the BIS Officer, the debris was moved to the side of the roadway. City Services was notified to remove the debris later that day. The BIS Officer cleared the incident at 3:27 am.

6/28 – 9:22 am | Zone 2 – Polo Drive

Upon returning to the BIS office from patrol, the on-duty Officer retrieved a voicemail from a member reporting that a guest's unlocked vehicle had been entered sometime during the night. The guest discovered a front door and the trunk standing open the following morning. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. The Officer returned the call and advised the member's guest to file a report with CSPD, providing the appropriate reporting information. No suspect description was available. Extra patrols were conducted in the area over the following several days.

6/28 – 1:10 pm | Zone 2 – Polo Drive

A BIS Officer received a call from an out-of-state relative visiting a BIS member who reported that their unlocked vehicle had been entered during the night. House keys and other personal items were stolen by an unknown suspect. No suspect description or exact time of occurrence could be provided. The Officer provided information for filing a report with CSPD. Extra patrols were assigned to the Polo Drive area over the following several days.

6/28 – 8:53 pm | Zone 1 – First Street

The BIS Officer retrieved a voicemail from a BIS member reporting that an unknown person unlawfully entered two unlocked vehicles parked in the member's driveway sometime during the previous night. The Officer returned the member's call and learned that both glove boxes and center consoles had been ransacked. The only item believed to have been stolen was a garage door remote for a different property. No suspect description was available. The member will review their security camera footage and provide any available video. The Officer requested that the member file a theft report with CSPD. Extra patrols were assigned to the area. This incident is similar to two other unlawful entries into unlocked vehicles reported on Polo Drive earlier the same day.

6/28 – 11:40 pm | Zone 7 – Sixth Street/Broadmoor Avenue

While patrolling the area, the BIS Officer observed a dark blue Chevy Suburban with Texas license plates turn from Lake Avenue onto Sixth Street and travel toward Broadmoor Avenue. The Officer noted that the vehicle's right rear taillight was inoperative. As the Suburban turned east onto Broadmoor Avenue, the driver turned off the vehicle's headlights, then turned them back on as an oncoming vehicle approached.

The Suburban continued onto Old Broadmoor Road toward Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard, where it stopped briefly in the middle of the roadway before turning onto Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard. The driver then pulled into the bike lane just west of Springlake Circle West and stopped. As the BIS Officer drove past and began turning into the nearby cul-de-sac, the Suburban re-entered the roadway and momentarily followed the marked BIS patrol before continuing eastbound on Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard.

A few minutes later, the Officer located the Suburban parked on the wrong side of the road in front of a non-member's residence on Springlake Circle West. The vehicle's headlights were off and its hazard lights were activated. Due to the vehicle's dark tinted windows, the Officer was unable to determine the number of occupants or obtain descriptions of anyone inside.

The BIS Officer positioned the patrol vehicle at a distance and conducted surveillance for several minutes. No one was observed exiting the Suburban. After a short time, the driver turned the vehicle around and proceeded eastbound on Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard. The Suburban was last seen turning north onto Highway 115.

The Officer then checked the residence where the vehicle had been parked. No vehicles were in the driveway, no lights were on inside the home, and no signs of forced entry or other suspicious activity were observed. The Officer documented the vehicle information for future reference and to share with other BIS Officers and CSPD if requested. The surveillance was concluded at 11:57 pm.
