Officer Notes 1/29/24 to 2/4/24

1/29…3:35 pm…Zone 1…Elm Ave/Third Street…Reckless driving. BIS officer observed a red truck with CO plates, driver went through a stop sign at a high rate of speed and passed vehicles in oncoming traffic. The driver was a WM 16-18 years old with brown hair and a white t-shirt. Male stopped his vehicle and approached the BIS officer. Male stated he was a Cheyenne Mtn High School student. When asked why he was driving recklessly male replied, “my friend was watching”. Cheyenne Mtn High School security was contacted, info passed onto them, male gave a fake name to BIS officer.

 

1/30…8:43 am…Zone 1…Cresta Road/Cheyenne Blvd…Abandoned vehicle west of the intersection on the northside of the road, in the ditch. Two door tan BMW 335i with CO plates, damage to the front passenger side, vehicle unoccupied. CSPD notified.  

 

1/30…9:25 am…Zone 1…Cheyenne Road…Motorist assist, female driver in a silver Dodge Ram, flagged down the BIS officer requesting a jump start. The truck started, and the driver continued on their way.  

 

1/31…9:43 am…Zone 6…Kincaid Court…Received a call about a suspicious BM pushing a cart with coolers up the hill. The BIS officer arrived at 9:53 am and located the cart, no individuals seen, appeared to have work supplies inside. Observed a worker two houses away working at a non-members house. Officer found another similar cart on another street one block away with a worker cutting concrete. The reporting party was called back and informed that there are workers in the area performing sidewalk repair.  The BIS Officer cleared the area at 9:55 am.

 

1/31…12:00 pm…Zones 10…Mesa Ave/Penrose Blvd…Mail theft…BIS officer found a stack of mail on the side of the road at the intersection of Penrose Blvd and Mesa Ave.  The mail was from numerous addresses on Felicity View and Old Stage Road.  No suspicious vehicles or individuals could be seen in the area where the mail was found.  Some of the mail belonged to BIS members who were called, and mail returned.  Other mail was taken to the post office on 8th street.  Mail was found from a community mailbox located on Old Stage Road about 100 yards up from Compassion Point.  The BIS officer checked the community mailbox and did not see any signs of damage or any that were open.  The BIS officer also interacted with the USPS delivery person to inform the delivery person of what was found.  The BIS officer cleared the area at 1:17 pm.

 

2/1…5:15 am…Zone 9…Marland Road South…Received a call from a BIS member about a suspicious vehicle, black Chevy Silverado with CO disabled veteran plates, parked on the side of the road. The BIS officer arrived at 5:22 am and investigated the vehicle but did not see anyone inside of the vehicle or the immediate area.  The BIS officer patrolled local streets and did not locate the owner of the vehicle. The reporting party called back at 6:20 am stating the vehicle was now running with a WM driver inside the vehicle. Reporting party interacted with the driver who stated that he was homeless. The reporting party then called CSPD which caused the driver to immediately drive away. Vehicle was not seen by other BIS officers during their shifts.

 

2/2…5:35 pm…Zone 2…Berthe Circle…BIS member called to inform us that they had their mail stolen on Monday or Tuesday this week.

 

2/3…12:30 am…Zone 9…Hermitage Drive…Received a burglary alarm at a residence coming from the upper-level motion. The BIS officer arrived at 12:39 am, the alarm was not audible, and contacted the BIS member. Possible faulty sensor and nothing unusual was seen around the residence’s home.  Doors and windows were secured with no signs of forced entry. The officer cleared the area at 12:45 am.

 

2/4…9:33 pm…Zone 1…Polo Drive…Possible mail theft, found two magazines belonging to an address on Carriage Manor Point, no vehicles or individuals seen in the area.

 

2/4…11:06 pm…Zones 3 and 4…Found several magazines and mail from various residences located on Carriage Manor Point.  Mail was found on the street at several locations which are Strickler Road, Haney Road, Old Broadmoor Road, Elm Circle and Poplar Street. No vehicles or individuals were noticed in the area. Community mailboxes on Carriage Manor Point were checked at 12:47 am with no signs of damage or any that were open.   USPS located on 8th Street were notified by BIS on what was found.
